Ineum Consulting, partner in the 5th annual IT Cup
Dedicated to companies in the new technologies sector, this charitable sports competition is organised every year in Clairefontaine, the mythical training centre for France’s football team, and benefits humanitarian actions.
For five years, some 30 teams comprised of employees from the largest French IT and telecommunications companies, regardless of whether they are executives, engineers or developers, face off one day in June on football pitches, where their passion for this exciting game drives them to work just as hard on the pitch as they do in their humanitarian work.
Each team pays an entry fee based on turnover, and the funds collected are given to an association that incorporates new technologies into its projects..
Diambars and Yeelen: two football training projects in Africa
Yeelen
The Yeelen project’s goals:
At first, it was based on two observations:
- Football and the dream of becoming a professional player have prompted an increasing number of boys to drop out of school.
- The football economic benefits very little for developing countries.
Yeelen was set up to make football a vector of development and education by:
- Providing training that strikes a balance between football and studies, offering career prospects to children who are often in difficulty.
- Mobilising the resources football generates to fund long-term development projects.
Ineum Consulting’s good citizenship deed:
Ineum Consulting has supported the project since its conception by training the centre’s managers and providing financial aid to the project, which much fund itself in the medium term.
Specifically:
Since January 2004 the centre has hosted approximately 50 players, between the ages of 11 and 20 today.
The first sports results have exceeded expectations: players have been selected for the national team, the team has risen to the second division and won the Mali championship for teams with players under 16, etc. In addition, the centre now offers more than 1,000 hours of supplementary school courses each year.
Diambars
The Diambars project’s goals:
Football is the world’s most popular sport and the event that attracts the most spectators and television viewers.
The project’s goals are to train high-level football players and to make the sport’s power of attraction and the influence of champions a lever for education. That is the Diambars project’s crux, strength and challenge. Who, where, how?
The Diambars Institute trains high-level football players but also offers educational and professional programs. At the same time, the institute, its teams and its trainees develop activities to promote school enrolment and attendance in which football makes children want to go to and stay in the classroom.
Ineum Consulting’s citizenship action:
Ineum Consulting helps the Diambars institute’s founders think about the future of this noble idea, its international growth and the strategic reflections relating to it.
Specifically:
32 people have begun the training course. The first class will finish the program at the end of the 2008 season. The best will join professional clubs and the rest will continue their studies.
